When Michigan was struggling with the great recession, a promise was made to the hardworking people of our state. The promise was to temporarily raise the income tax, which would have been lowered after the state emerged from the recession. Unfortunately, like most government promises, once the state got used to having more money, they didn’t want to give it back. After far too long, I was proud to finally deliver on that promise made to Michiganders all those years ago when I voted to provide tax relief and put more money back into your family’s budget.
