“Kute Kids”… ALOHA… These kuties are Isaiah, Isabella, Isla, and Irelynn are on a summer visit from Wahiawa, Hawaii! Their proud parents are Josh and Jessica (Teed) Reinhardt. Josh is a Satellite Communications System Operator /Maintainer for the United States Army, stationed in Hawaii. NEW ADDITIONS…Through a $6,000 grant from The Pokagon Fund, the Hartford Public Library was able to create a “CHILDREN’S TECH CENTER”. These are 8 computers dedicated for use by students and children for projects, learning and games such as Minecraft. We are very grateful to the Pokagon Fund for their support of this much needed project.
Local student named to Dean’s List
The following Virginia Military Institute cadets are among those named to the dean’s list for the second semester of the academic year 2015-16. To be eligible for the dean’s list, a cadet must have a term grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and no grade below C. Theo N. Haubold – A senior from Hartford, Mich., is majoring in International Studies. Cadet Haubold’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Eric Haubold. Founded in 1839, Virginia Military Institute is the nation’s oldest state-supported military college. Consistently ranked among the top public liberal arts colleges in the nation by both U.S. News and World Report and Money magazine, VMI offers Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in 14 majors. Emergency and Urgent Care wait times now available online at Lakeland
Emergency Department and Walk-in Clinic wait times are now available on the Lakeland Health website. Wait times are updated frequently allowing visitors to view the average amount of time they may have to wait between entering the facility and when they will see a provider at each location. Patients with life-threatening emergencies will always receive immediate care. “The focus of this initiative was on convenience and access for all patients,” said Ray Cruse, Vice President, Business Strategy and Hospitality Services. “By being transparent about how long the expected wait time is to see a medical provider, it allows patients to make a more educated decision about where they choose to receive care – even if that means driving to a Lakeland facility farther from their home to be seen in a more timely manner.” Walk-in Clinics are for illnesses that cannot wait until the next business day, but may not require the full resource s of a hospital Emergency Department such as: asthma, allergies, body aches, colds or sinus infections, fevers, headaches, minor burns and cuts, nausea or vomiting, pink eye, and urinary tract infections, among others. For serious injuries and medical emergencies such as chest pain, head injury or broken bones, major burns, poisoning, seizures, severe allergic reactions, or uncontrollable bleeding, among others, call 9-1-1 or go directly to an Emergency Department. Lakeland Emergency Departments are located in the St. Joseph, Niles, and Watervliet hospitals and are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Walk-in Clinics are located at Southwestern Medical Clinic in Niles and Stevensville and inside Lakeland Hospital, Watervliet. Walk-in Clinic hours vary by location and are listed online.
Lawrence Elementary School helps Van Buren County Road Commission with “Paint the Plow” Contest
Lawrence Elementary School student, Hailey Camp, was recently announced the winner of the Van Buren County Road Commission’s “Paint the Plow Contest”. Road Commission staff selected the third grade winner from 93 entries spanning from Kindergarten through 6 Grade. The plow has been installed on a Road Commission Plow Truck which is being displayed throughout the County in parades, festivals and the County Fair. Come out and see the artwork and introduce yourself to someone from the Road Commission! Congratulations, Hailey!
