State hits 70% vaccine goal; new COVID cases the most in nation

Michigan achieved its goal of 70% vaccination among those 16 years of age and older last week, but the state is leading the nation with new COVID-19 cases. Over the weekend, Michigan reported its highest single-day positivity rate since the pandemic began. Experts within the Michigan Health and Human Services express concern saying single-day positivity is the best indicator of community spread. Sixty-three percent of those 12 and up in Michigan are fully vaccinated.
