SUE STAMPFLY

Sue Stampfly, of Coloma, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend died peacefully at home Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024. “Grandma Sue” enjoyed connecting with all who came into her life, and will be remembered for the active and joyful way she lived. She always stayed curious and never met a stranger.

Born Jan. 31, 1945 in Chicago, IL, Sue attended Michigan State University where she met the love of her life, Al. After graduation, she first taught mathematics at Coloma High School, then worked for over 20 years at Whirlpool Corporation as a systems analyst before retiring and returning to her love of math by teaching at local junior colleges.

She was happiest when her house was filled with her children and their friends, her grandchildren, and the families she met through her neighborhood, church, and many extra-curricular activities. Sue loved to sing, craft, travel, attend sporting events, and walk her dog, Lexi.

Sue will be greatly missed by her husband Al, daughters Wendy (Dave) Giardina of Oakbrook Terrace, IL and Dawn (Jeff) Kelly of Bath, MI, as well as her grandchildren Kate, Adam, Ryan, and Sean. They were her passion and the ones lucky enough to have her love and support at every event in their lives (she never missed one!).

A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2024 with fellowship to follow at the Coloma United Methodist Church, 144 S. Church St. in Coloma. Those wishing to leave an online message of remembrance may do so at www.duffieldpastrick.com.

In lieu of memorial contributions or flowers, Sue would like nothing better than for you to take a friend or family member out to lunch, to plant some flowers in the spring, sing a song you love, or take that trip you’ve been putting off, and then think of her with a smile.
