Super heroes, ghouls, and princesses filled the classrooms at Coloma Elementary School

On Tuesday afternoon, October 31, the Halloween spirit filled the halls and classrooms at Coloma Elementary. Before the individual room parties started John Klein, principal, gave the Record an opportunity to stop by and visit several classrooms and interact with the students who were quite willing to share.
Mr. Lavanway’s third grade classroom provided many ideas on how they selected their costume for this year. Adrian shared, “I was just shopping at Wal-Mart and found a Ninja costume that I liked,” while Kinsley chose her pilot costume because “Top Gun” is her favorite movie. When asked if they would rather go Trick or Treating with Harry Potter or with a ghost... Harry Potter was the pick. Rhyleigh, Noah, Andrew, Aliyah, Emily, Darius, and Audra chose Harry Potter as their companion because “Harry is magical and able to help if there is any danger.”
Students from Mrs. Groendyk’s kindergarten class shared that they thought the best part of Halloween is getting candy. When asked about how their costume was selected there were three enthusiastic volunteers. Kaelin explained, “My mom helped choose a Harlequin costume because I liked it.” Scarlett said, “I wanted to be a mermaid because The Little Mermaid is my favorite movie.” Oliver dressed like a clown “because clowns act silly and dance to make people laugh.”
It was a wonderful opportunity to see the students excited to experience Halloween treats and games with their classmates, plus see many family members volunteering to make the classroom parties a memorable experience for the Coloma Elementary students.
