The indestructible lighthouse

Pounding waves crashed against the end of the pier, sending sprays of water high above the lighthouse. Storm winds continued for hours. Darkness obscured the watching of it, but the sounds of violent encounter between steel and water continued as long as pier and lighthouse remained. And remain they did. Sunrise would reveal a bright scene. Ice-wrapped lighthouse and pier, undaunted and enduring, standing, perseverant in purpose, undimmed light brightly shining across the lake.
