Well-placed faith
If I am swimming and I get a muscle cramp so that I can’t stay up, I need something to grab onto. If someone throws me a rock, it won’t help because it doesn’t float. I may have a lot of faith in that rock, and hold on very tightly, but it will take me down. I may have radical faith in the rock, but that intense faith doesn’t change the nature of the rock. It doesn’t float, and never will. I have misplaced faith, no matter how sincere. If, on the other hand, someone throws me a life preserver, I just need enough faith to reach out and grab it, hoping that it will hold me up. That faith, though weak, is enough to save me. Just hold on. The life preserver won’t let me down.
