If those who have left their estates behind could observe their estate auctions, what would they feel? Anger? Remorse? Concern? Cheated? Why would they be angry? Because their treasures are not valued highly enough? Why would they sense remorse? Sadness, perhaps, at memories erased with the random distribution of heirlooms? Why would they have concern? Maybe because now, finally, these accumulations of decades, with their personal memories, are dissolved in a few hours. All of this would cause sadness. If the things accumulated had totally defined life, they should also feel cheated. While the things that make for good auctions may have enriched life, they could never define life itself. On the contrary, things can encumber and stifle life.
