CHARLES RICHARD JARVIS Charles’ life began Nov. 25, 1925 in Riverside, Michigan. His passion for work started at the age of 10; he pedaled papers until he got a job working at Old’s Dairy where he rode his bike to work.
Charles then worked alongside his mother pedaling fruits and vegetables. All of those opportunities just lead up to him being old enough to work alongside his father; first in the shoe repair store, then on his father’s 80-acre farm, and eventually as a painter for Jarvis & Sons Painting. Charles enjoyed a 60 year career in painting. When he wasn’t working you could find Charles gardening and he was known for his huge heads of sweet cabbage. One of Charles’ favorite places to go was Farmer’s Country Club for lunch and he was a fixture of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ for over 70 years. Charles’ greatest joy came from his loving family which includes two sons, Richard (Michelle) Jarvis and Kevin (Nancy) Jarvis; six grandchildren Aimee, Jamie, Adam, Jim, Scott, and Ashley; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister Ella Stubelt; and many nieces and nephews. Charles died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019. His wife and love of his life Mary, his daughter Karen Pendleton, a great-great-grandson Liam Warner, and three siblings Brian Jarvis, Marie Schmaltz, and Rita Radtke precede Charles in death. Funeral services will be celebrated Thursday, Jan. 10 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Bainbridge Township. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery. SUSAN KAY WEBER Susan Kay Weber, 74, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018, with her sister, cousin, and dear friends at her side.
Susie was born Dec. 7, 1944 to Floyd and Lois Weber. She grew up in the small area of Bainbridge Township, the very place she would continue to call home her whole life. She graduated from Watervliet High School in 1962. Susie began working at a local bank during her senior year and continued in banking for over 35 years. After her retirement, Susie devoted her time to the care of both of her parents. Susie’s life was one full of patience, generosity, selflessness, and a very deep and kind love. Some would say that Susie was, no doubt, one of God’s angels on Earth. In her spare time, you could find her quietly cozied up by herself, with a book in hand, or spending time spoiling her nieces and nephews, who always had an extra special place in her heart. She enjoyed a simple, yet very fulfilled, life. She was loved and admired and will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Susie was preceded in death by her mother, Lois Weber; grandparents, Erwin and Iona Weber and Leonard and Martha Jewell; and one nephew, Ric Weber. She is survived by her father, Floyd Weber; brothers, Rolland (Betty) Weber and Kim (Debbie) Weber; sister, Linda Alfieri; and many nieces and nephews. A private memorial service will take place at a later date. Family and friends wishing to make memorial donations in Susie’s name may do so to: St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 1650 N.
