VIRGINIA D. DYER Virginia D. Dyer, 92, passed away Jan. 5, 2019, at Ascension Borgess Hospital following a stroke.

Virginia was the youngest of five daughters born in Mishawaka, Ind., to John and Bessie (Neupert) Steinhauser. Her sisters: Helen Piercy, Mary Jane Dickens, Betty Brittain, and Ruth Lutes all preceded her in death. Surviving are her son, Jamie J. Dyer of Portage; granddaughter, Krystal (Justin) Ellis, and their son, Hunter, of Bloomingdale; several nieces and nephews and her granddog, Zara. On Oct. 16, 1951, Virginia was married to William (Bill) N. Dyer (deceased) and moved to Hartford. She worked many years for Hartford Public Schools, retiring as the co-manager of Cafeteria Operations. Virginia and Bill loved to travel, enjoying many vacations together with friends and family. She moved to Brookdale Senior Living in Portage following the loss of Bill, where she enjoyed the planned activities and making new friends. In keeping with her wishes, Virginia will be cremated and no open services will be held. She will be interred in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hartford, in the spring.
