CHARLES “CHARLIE” STAINBROOK Charles “Charlie” Stainbrook, 95, of St. Joseph and formerly of Niles died Sunday, February 10, 2019 at the West Woods of Bridgman. A service celebrating his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, at the Davidson Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in Coloma. The family will receive friends and relatives beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Davidson Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Heart Association or to the donor’s favorite charity.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Special Forces during WWII and loved to talk with his buddies about his wartime stories. Charlie was a long time employee of Michigan Bell and later AT&T and enjoyed getting together with his working buddies for breakfast. When he retired he was in charge of the all the toll lines for the phone company. His favorite pastime was traveling up north to look after his properties there. Charlie was a very kind man and was always concerned about others and their needs. He will be sadly missed by his family: his sister, Rose Follman of St. Joseph; his brother, Paul Stainbrook of Amherst, OH; and his numerous nieces and nephews. Each and every one had a special place in his heart. A special thanks to his next door neighbors, Bob and Linda Moore. The family would also like to thank everyone at West Woods for their wonderful care they provided while Charlie was there. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
GARY R. HALL Gary R. Hall of Hartford began life August 15, 1947 in Centralia, Illinois. Gary grew up in South Haven where he graduated high school. After high school Gary proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He worked as maintenance supervisor at Heathkit/Zenith for 30 years. Currently he was working for Harbor Shores and Evergreen Development. Gary also helped maintain the Harbor Shores neighborhoods in addition to helping at the Harbor Shores Golf Clubhouse. Gary had many friends among the homeowners and will be missed by all of them.
Gary enjoyed golfing, deer hunting, taking walks in the woods, and attending grandchildren’s sporting events. He was a supporter of Watervliet Athletics, and a huge Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers fan. Gary’s greatest joy was spending time with his loving family which includes: his wife of 37 years Debbie (Thumm) Hall; children Keri Moore of Coloma, James Rodriguez (Brandi Ellis) of Watervliet, Lori (Rusty) Bender of Mattawan, Amy Jo (Joe) Reed of Watervliet, Deran Hall of Long Beach, CA, and Christal Mahoney of Coloma; grandchildren Corey (Taylor) Rodriguez, Alissa Rodriguez, Joey (Taylor) Reed, Justin Reed, Jacob Hall, Jared Naylor, Billi Naylor, Jayden McMiller, and Nikki Bryant; great-grandchildren Isabella Rodriguez, Alex Rodriguez, Kinlee Johnson, McKenna Reed, and Maddi Reed; a brother Dan (Elie) Hall; sisters Betty (Tony) Cook and Gail (Mike) Oshry; and many nieces and nephews. Gary died Saturday, February 9, at Lakeland Medical Center in St. Joseph. Gary is preceded in death by a daughter Kimmie Hall, grandson Bryan Nail, first wife Frances (Oliver) Hall, father Floyd Hall, his mother Deeina Stamm, and the family pet Tootsie. A memorial service was celebrated Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet. WAYNE L. OTTE Wayne L. Otte, 89, of Coloma passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019 at Ely Manor in Allegan under the care of Wings of Hope Hospice.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18 at Plymouth Congregational Church in Watervliet with pastor Larry Easton officiating. Wayne was born February 7, 1929 in Benton Harbor to Alfred and Letty (Brightup) Otte. He was formerly employed by Heath Company for 22 years before entering the ministry where he has served the Lord for the past 40 years. Above all else Wayne enjoyed family dinners along with playing billiards, table tennis, and horseshoes. He also enjoyed doing carpentry work and restoring cars. Wayne is survived by three daughters, Sheila Kuball and Rhonda Braybrooks both of Coloma, and Paula Kelley of Paw Paw. Also surviving is a sister Athalie Hansen of Watervliet, two brothers William Otte of Coloma, and Allen “Pat” Otte of Clearwater, FL along with seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Nellie whom he married in 1952, a daughter Carol Bittner, great-granddaughter Shelby Sorel, twin sister Lorayne Dahms, and three brothers, Robert, Richard, and James.
