BARRY GENE LEEDY Barry Gene Leedy, 65, of Coloma, passed away on March 3, 2018 at Hanson Hospice Center, after a battle with cancer. Arrangements have been entrusted to Purely Cremations. A celebration of life will be held at a later date per his request.
Barry was born August 30, 1952 in Benton Harbor to Walter and Marion (Jensen) Leedy. After graduating from Coloma High School, Barry worked for Bosch Braking Systems, retiring as an electrician after 31 years. In retirement, Barry pursued his love of nature, working as an electrician with Xanterra Parks; enjoying employment at both Yellowstone and Grand Canyon National Parks for 13 years, retiring a second time, only after his diagnosis with cancer. Among his many extra-curricular pursuits, Barry was an avid golfer who enjoyed spending many hours on the course at Blossom Trails and other courses around the country. He was a roller coaster rider and was an early member of the American Coaster Enthusiasts (ACE). The entire family enjoyed many roller coaster riding adventures together. Music was also an important part of his life and he was able to travel the world as a member of Automatic Musical Instrument Collector’s Association (AMICA). When not working, Barry was a geyser gazer at Yellowstone National Park. Barry was preceded in death by his parents, Walter & Marion (Jensen) Leedy and his sister-in-law, Barbara Leedy. He is survived by his brothers William Leedy, Robert (Regina) Leedy, Bennet Leedy and his sister, Brenda (Kevin) Kniebes; nephews, Brian (Susan) Leedy, Robert (Allison) Harper, Mike Harper; nieces, Rebecca Scott, Lana Leedy, Rhonda (Tim) Kling, Tracy (Jason) Spaulding, Renee (Keith) Pounders; great-nieces, Lauren, Melanie, Taylor, Gabrielle, Mallory, Kimberly, Brianna, Katelyn, Alyssa, Ellie; and great-nephews, Harrison, Dale, Blake and Camren. Memorials may be made in his name to Hanson Hospice Center or Sarett Nature Center.
NELLIE J. OTTE Nellie J. Otte, 84, of Coloma, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Ely Manor in Allegan. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 10 at Calvary Bible Church in Benton Harbor. Donations in memory of Nellie may be made to the church. NANCY JEAN FAST Nancy Jean Fast, of Hartford, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 5, 2018 at Lakeland Medical Center, St. Joseph at the young age of 60. She was born on August 17, 1957 in South Haven, the daughter of Arthur and Leona Mielke, both of whom precede her in passing. On July 9, 1982 Nancy was united in marriage to Denny Fast. While she was living in Nashville, Tennessee, Nancy was employed as a bartender at some of the local night spots, several years in banking, and then as a secretary for Jewell Roofing Company. After moving back to Michigan, she attended both the Peace Lutheran Church of South Haven and the Hope Lutheran Church of Hartford. She loved the times she went fishing with her friends from Paw Paw, doing art work, and crafts of all kinds, and especially loved to bake chocolate chip nut cookies for her husband and treats for her family and friends. Nancy is survived by her husband Denny, a sister, Ann and many other family members and friends. Nancy’s family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 10 at the Hope Lutheran Church, 205 Bennett Avenue, Hartford where the Celebration of Life Service will commence at noon. Pastor Frederick S. Adrian will officiate. Nancy will be laid to rest with a private service in North Shore Memory Gardens, Hagar Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the church.
