Coloma man arrested for assault
Berrien County Prosecuting Attorney Mike Sepic has announced that a Coloma man is facing charges of assault by strangulation in connection to an 18-year-old St. Joseph High School student. Chris Glisson, 51, is facing up to a decade in prison if found guilty of a charge of assault by strangulation for the incident which allegedly occurred on February 20 at St. Joseph High School. Sepic said witness interviews and video evidence indicates that Glisson attacked Steven Meridy Jr. during a confrontation, including putting his hands around the student’s throat. In Sepic’s press release he said that Meridy Jr. had dated one of Glisson’s daughters and the pair had recently split up. Glisson was the St. Joseph High School Boys and Girls Club site leader. Upon the incident occurring, Glisson was terminated from the Boys and Girls Club. Court records state that Glisson was arraigned on Wednesday. Bail was set at $5,000. He paid the $500 bond. He is being represented by Attorney Tat Parish. A preliminary exam conference is set for March 13, followed by a hearing on March 19.
