Coloma Township Police Activity
On March 12, 2017 at 1:12 a.m., a Coloma Township police officer was on patrol and located an unoccupied vehicle in the ditch on Little Paw Paw Lake Road near Becht Road.
The officer was able to locate the registered owner of the vehicle a short distance away and conducted a criminal investigation. The officer was able to determine that the owner of the vehicle had been driving the vehicle and that she was intoxicated. The owner, a 28-year-old Coloma woman, was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated and lodged at the Berrien County Jail.
A Coloma Township police officer responded to the Wesco gas station for a shoplifting complaint the morning of March 13, 2017. A store employee had observed a customer place an item that was for sale in her purse and leave without paying for the item.
The officer was able to identify the customer and made contact with her. The customer, a 52-year-old Coloma woman, admitted to stealing the item and was issued a misdemeanor appearance citation for Retail Fraud 3rd Degree.
