Police Report By Annette Christie Drugs and guns result in arrest Van Buren County Sheriff Daniel Abbott reports that the narcotics unit received information that a 21-year-old male subject was carrying two handguns and possibly carrying methamphetamine on his person. The male subject was found near his place of employment in the City of Kalamazoo by narcotics detectives on Wed., March 11, 2020. Detectives surveilled him from the Kalamazoo area to Paw Paw when he parked at the Paw Paw Park and Ride. The surveillance unit called for a uniform deputy to make contact with him at the Paw Paw Park and Ride. Deputy Rowse, with the K9 unit, made contact with the subject and inquired about why he was sitting in the Park and Ride. The 21-year-old male advised he was homeless and waiting for another subject to meet him. After talking with the 21-year-old male Deputy Rowse asked if he had any guns in the vehicle and he advised he had a 9mm hand gun in his waist band. The male subject was taken into custody. Deputy Rowse conducted a search of his vehicle and located a baggie of “blue” meth and an additional Glock 9mm handgun. The 21-year-old male was lodged at the Van Buren County Jail for the charges of Carrying a Concealed Weapon and possession of methamphetamine. It should be noted that the 21-year-old male subject did not have a permit to carry a gun.
