Betty L. Hosbein, 84, of Coloma died Thursday, June 8, 2017, at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph.

Cremation has taken place and interment of the ashes will be at North Shore Memory Gardens with her husband’s.  The Davidson Chapel of

Betty was born on Jan. 2, 1933 in Ann Arbor to Norman and Lillian Main. She married Fred Hosbein in 1966 and he preceded her in death in 2002.  Together they celebrated 35 years of marriage.  Betty enjoyed gardening, flowers, and cooking and was an avid fan of NASCAR and NFL football.  She was a strong willed and very witty individual.  Betty was also a very caring and loving person.

Her family includes her son, Terry (Barb) Hosbein of St. Joseph; her sisters, Joanne Main of St. Joseph and Rebecca Humes of CA; her 2 grandchildren, Justin and Jordan and her great-grandson, Jason.  She was also preceded in death by her son, Brandon, in 1967; her sisters, Sally and Linda; and her brothers, James and Ronald.

Bruce A. Newnum, 77, of Coloma per his wishes passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones on Friday, June 9, 2017.

A planting of a tree in his memory will be held at a later date and cremation has taken place.  Arrangements are by the Davidson Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in Coloma.  Please share memories, messages or photos at www.florin.net.

Bruce was born on April 26, 1940 in Coloma to Charles and Mary Jane Newnum.  He was a photographer and owned Bruce Newnum Photography in Coloma for over 40 years.  Bruce did little league sports photography in the area.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  He enjoyed gardening, bird watching and working on his Christmas Tree farm.  Bruce was a strong, selfless, and patient person who was kind, gentle and loving to everyone.

His family includes his daughters, Julie Sprankle and Cheryl Mackey, both of Florida; his brothers, Steve (Bonnie) Newnum of Rapid City, ND and Dana Newnum of Hardeeville, SC; his several grandchildren; his dear friends, Jennifer and Jason Burgess of Coloma and their daughter and best buddy, Jewell Burgess and Randy and Teresa Donohue of Coloma. Bruce and Jewell had a special relationship between the two of them.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Tim.


Harold William Walker Jr., 82, of Hartford, was born on December 24, 1934 in Hartford, the son of Harold and Beatrice (Manley) Walker, both of whom precede him in passing. He was also preceded in passing by a brother; James.

Harold passed away suddenly on Monday, June 5, 2017.

Cocky, as he was known by many, owned and operated the Walker 66 Station from 1958 until 1973. He worked for two years as the bus supervisor and mechanic for the Hartford Public Schools, was in numerous positions for the city of Hartford for twelve years, he had a fire truck repair business for thirteen years and a salesman for Spencer Manufacturing up until his health forced him to retire. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion Stoddard Post 93 of Hartford. Harold’s love for Hartford led him to become a Hartford Fireman, which he did for 40 years, with most of those years as its chief.

Harold married the former Jean Rush on February 7, 1959 and she survives, along with their two children, Harold III (Diana) Walker of Hartford and Karyn Walker of Kalamazoo; three grandchildren, Brent, Kevin and Erin; a great grandchild, Jase Michael Walker; two brothers, Manley “Bob” Walker of Hartford and Richard (June) Walker of South Bend and a sister, Dawn (Bud) Pitcher of Hartford.

A memorial celebration to honor Harold’s life was held on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at the Hartford United Methodist Church.

As to Harold’s wishes, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the Hartford Fire Department or Alzheimer’s Association.
