MARY LOU BECHT
Mary was born February 8, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to Frank and Lena (Shaffer) Young. As a child her family moved to the Coloma area where she enjoyed growing up and graduated from Coloma High School. Mary worked for many years as the non-foods manager for Watervliet Harding’s. Outside of work you could find her trying her luck at the casino, playing bingo and cards, crocheting, reading, doing word puzzles, gardening and camping. Mary enjoyed actives at the North Berrien Senior Center where she made numerous friends. Above everything Mary’s greatest joy was gathering her family and spending time together.
Her loving family includes: four children, Pat Jannings of Coloma, Connie (Mike) Burke of Norman, OK, Roxann Matson of Grand Haven, and Scott (Missy) Becht of Hartford; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; her brother Don (Fran) Young of Watervliet; and several nieces and nephews.
