Berrien County Sheriff Monthly Report
The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department booked in 342 male inmates and 139 female inmates at the Berrien County Jail in the month of August. They processed 632 inmates that were released from jail.
The Sheriff’s Department transported 28 male inmates to Jackson Prison while three female inmates were transported to Huron Valley Prison. In all, 34,833 meals were prepared for the month.
Patrols in the northern part of the county including Hagar, Bainbridge, and Watervliet included 47 calls for service. Those calls included but were not limited to public peace, malicious destruction of property, larceny, disorderly persons, harassment, domestic violence, controlled substance, and obstructing police. Overall, the county handled and investigated 1,300 calls for service.
The Berrien County Victim Services Unit responded to three investigations during the month where they provided support and guidance to the victims, family members and friends of individuals who had experienced a traumatic event in their lives.
The Crime Prevention Unit participated in many events during the month including the Youth Fair, National Night Out, the RAD conference and training, AEP Safety Fair, and CPR Training.
The Marine Division provided 334 total hours of patrols including 90 hours on Paw Paw Lake. County wide there were 28 total violations issued.
