Police Reports By Annette Christie Van Buren County nabs pair on meth charges Van Buren County Sheriff Daniel Abbott reports that his narcotics unit conducted an investigation into the sale/distribution of methamphetamine (ICE) taking place in the Keeler Township / Sister Lakes area of Van Buren County. After approximately a two-month long investigation, narcotics detectives were able to obtain felony drug warrants for Brian Jackson, 40, and Michelle Faultersack, 41, both of Coloma for the sale / delivery of methamphetamine. On Tuesday, October 9, the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office narcotics detectives along with deputies from the uniform response division were able to locate and arrest Jackson in Keeler Township on the outstanding warrants. During the arrest of Jackson, an additional quantity of suspected methamphetamine was located on his person. It was also determined that Jackson had supplied arresting officers a false name in an attempt to conceal his true identity and that his driver’s license was currently suspended. Jackson was lodged at the Van Buren County Jail on the felony warrants for sale/delivery of methamphetamine along with additional charges of possession of methamphetamine, driving with a suspended driver’s license, and furnishing false information to a police officer. On the same date of Tuesday, October 9, 2018, narcotics detectives along with a deputy from the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office, officers from the Coloma Township Police Department and deputies from the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office were able to locate and arrest Faultersack in Coloma Township on the outstanding warrants. She was lodged at the Van Buren County Jail on the felony warrants for sale/delivery of methamphetamine. The incident will be forwarded to the Van Buren County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

Watervliet Township Police activity Berrien County Sheriff Deputies Puffer and Goff have been busy during the months of August and September patrolling in Watervliet Charter Township. Puffer reports that the duo made 34 misdemeanor arrests in August and nine in September. A total of eight felony arrests were in the two months. Additional statistics are 91 traffic stops in August; 30 traffic stops in September; 55 traffic citations in August; 22 citations in September; and a total of 70 complaints. The pair did 67 building and residential checks in August and 95 in September. County-wide, for the month of August, the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department worked 1,336 complaints, issued 316 tickets, ad made 237 arrests.

Van Buren County fundraiserfor the needy The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office and the Van Buren Tech Center are teaming up to raise funds for Van Buren County families for the holidays. They are hosting the Racers Twilight 5K on October 18, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. In 2016 and 2017 the Van Buren County Reserves were able to help five families and the students are hoping that through the 5K they can raise funds to help more families.
