9-1-1 Call by Coloma woman ends with less lethal round shot by Berrien County Deputy resulting in her death

Coloma Township Police responded to a call on June 5, 2024, at approximately 3:37 a.m. after a female caller told the 9-1-1 operator that “she knows people are going to try and set her house on fire”. This is according to a joint press release sent by Wes Smigielski, Chief of Police for the Coloma Township Police Department and Chuck Heit, Sheriff for the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office.
