A sense of acceptance

Meals enjoyed together help define relationships and establish peace. A meal together in the Middle East can be an opportunity for friendship, even among enemies. Participants will set weapons behind themselves, almost out of reach, as conversation and hospitality are shared. They are not picked up again until the meal is over. That concept doesn’t always work as well with our family holiday get-togethers here in the West. Oh well.
