Alonzo Herrera Jr. graduate of Michigan Youth Challenge Academy with National Guard Rank of Corporal

A BRIGHT FUTURE… Alonzo Herrera Jr., 17, of Hartford, is a recent graduate of Michigan Youth Challenge Academy with a National Guard Rank of Corporal. Herrera has been accepted to a Job Challenge through Kellogg Community College to be an Electrical Engineer. In January, he will be housed at Fort Custer in Battle Creek.

Alonzo is the son of Suann Dorsett and Alonzo Herrera Sr., of Hartford. When he was in Kindergarten at St. Joseph Catholic Elementary in Watervliet he was featured on the front page of the Dec. 29, 2011 Tri-City Record giving his “New Year’s Resolution and Advice.” At that time he did not want to look for the Tooth Fairy because he didn’t want his teeth to fall out.
