BETTY LOU JONES



Betty’s life began Dec. 14, 1929, in Watervliet, Michigan. She spent her lifetime in Watervliet where she graduated high school and met the love of her life. Betty married Harold Jones in 1949 and they enjoyed over 50 years together.

Betty started her working career at the dime store in town during high school. In her adult years she worked as a bookkeeper for several different places including Krenek, Elliot Equipment, and Desco. At one point Betty worked as a meat cutter at Harding’s. Betty loved her community and enjoyed giving back through volunteering at her church. In her quiet time Betty enjoyed cross stitching, reading and ceramics.

Her greatest love was her family who she leaves behind to cherish her memory including her son Robert A. Jones, daughter Denise M. (Mark) Crumb, granddaughter Samantha L. Crumb, several nieces and nephews, and her dog Buddy.

Betty died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024, at Corewell Health in St. Joseph. She is preceded in death by her husband Harold Jones, parents Frank and Rosie Runyon, daughter-in-law Kathryn Jones, and her sister JoAnn Alspaugh.

Visitation for Betty was Sunday, Feb. 25, at Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet. Funeral services were celebrated Monday, Feb. 26, with burial following in Fairview Memorial Cemetery in Watervliet.
