Billie D. Ryan, of Coloma, died July 6, 2023.
Billie was born Feb. 1, 1931 in Greenbrier, AR to Earl and Pearl Defoe Satterwhite. She lived her teen years in Wardell, MO, moving to Michigan with her family in 1948. She graduated from Coloma High School in 1949 and later married Paul Ryan on June 25, 1949 in Hartford.
Billie worked at V-M Corp. for 15 years and 20 years as owner and operator of her beauty shop while helping with the family farm on Bessemer Road in Coloma. She loved sewing, gardening, reading, writing her memoirs, and keeping in touch with her family, classmates and friends. Billie was a member of Apostolic Tabernacle Church in Benton Harbor since 1971.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 11 at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma with Reverend Billy Long and Pastor Michael McKinnies officiating. Burial took place at North Shore Memory Gardens in Hagar Shores. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Apostolic Tabernacle, North Berrien Senior Center or Caring Circle Hospice. Surviving is her son Greg (Sandy) Ryan of Denver, CO; one sister, Gloria Riggs of Heber Springs, AR; three sisters-in-law, Dianna of Heber Springs, Virgie Davis of Lawrence and Alice (Don) Boyer of Benton Harbor; and numerous nieces and nephews who were very precious to her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Paul; brothers, Jerry, Larry and Gary Satterwhite, and sisters, Wanda Rogers, Barbara Huff and Clara Perkey.
