Coloma Charter Township Board approves hiring a new police officer; new Paw Paw Lake water treatment program


The Coloma Charter Township Board braved the winter weather conditions to meet on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2026, for their scheduled monthly meeting. Township Supervisor Ken Parrigin called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Coloma Police Chief Wes Smigielski was at the meeting to ask the board to approve hiring an additional police officer. Smigielski reported that several of the current township police officers are approaching retirement age and the police department is looking ahead to ensure that the department is adequately staffed.
