History of the library

There has been a public library in Coloma since 1904 with Mrs. Luella Howard serving as the first librarian. According to the history books, the Coloma library had its beginning in April 1904, when the ladies of the Self Culture Club earned money to buy books. For the next 58 years, those ladies made the library their main service project. This women’s club was devoted to the study of literature, art, history, and other topics and is ultimately responsible for the start of the library.
