Doris L. Atherton, 90, of Coloma, passed away Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024 at Corewell Health Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph.
Services celebrating her life will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29 at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma where the family will receive friends beginning one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Coloma Cemetery. Donations in memory of Doris may be made to the North Berrien Firefighters Association. Doris was born Sept. 25, 1933 in Chicago to Edwin and Evelyn Lidberg. She formerly owned and operated Home Town Flowers in Coloma with her husband Jack. She was a member of the Coloma Lioness and the Coloma Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. For many years she and Jack enjoyed spending their summers camping at Oak Shores Campground, especially when all of the grandkids would come to visit.
Doris is survived by three children; Dan (Kim) Atherton of Watervliet, Tonda Rybarczyk of Coloma, Todd (Monica Gruss) Atherton of Coloma, and a brother Robert Reeves. Also surviving are nine grandchildren; Harvy & Marla, Jacob & Brandi, Rebecca, Jill & Ben, Jacqui & Stan, Jennifer, Michael, Kielean, and Emalee, 16 great grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Jack in 2012 and a brother Lenard Lidberg in 2019.
