DOROTHY N. JINKINS


Dorothy Nell Jinkins passed away on Oct. 22, 2022, at her daughter Diane Angelo’s home after a long fight with pneumonia and a broken leg.

Dorothy was born March 19, 1929 in Pryorsburg, Kentucky to Mallie Guynell (Wray) and General Fitzhugh Lee Simon.

She was preceded in death by: her late husband Merlin Jinkins; her son Donald Davis; two sons-in-law, Henry “Hank” Angelo and Vernon Lange; her daughter-in-law Sandra Frenchette; a grandson, Justin Brookes; a brother, Gilbert (Ester) Simon; and a sister, Helen (Burt) Tibbs.

Dorothy worked many years at Paramont Die Cast until they closed. She then worked at Leco Corporation until she retired. Dorothy then went on to work many years at Right at Home where she was awarded Regional Caregiver of the Year.

She enjoyed travel; she visited England, had a time share in Jamaica, and she enjoyed her many trips to Florida. Dorothy had two special places, her kitchen and her garden. She shared her cakes, pies and casseroles with her neighbors and doctors. She helped her family and friends with her flower garden knowledge and energy.

Dorothy is survived by a large loving family including: her son, David Jinkins; five daughters, Diane Angelo, Glenda (Rodney) Green, Linda Jordan, Patty Brookes, and Tammy (Roger) Jackson; eleven grandchildren, Don Davis Jr., Shelia, Kraig, Tracy, Christine, Lea, Ashley, Zachary, Don, Kristan, and Phillip; numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be celebrated Thursday, Oct. 27, at 1 p.m. at Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet. Interment will be celebrated privately in Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph.
