ELEANOR M. KLUG


Eleanor Marie Klug, 103, of Coloma, passed away on Monday, Aug. 15, 2022, at Woodland Terrace of Paw Paw Lake.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, Aug. 19, at 2:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 3713 Nao-mi Road, Sodus, with Pastor Robert Duehlmeyer officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service. Eleanor was born Jan. 4, 1919 in Watervliet to Robert and Pauline (Roekle) Wendzel.

On October 13, 1946 she married the love of her life, Walter Klug, at Salem Lutheran Church, Coloma. They celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary, before his passing in November 2021.

Prior to her marriage, Eleanor worked for Fidelity Insurance Co. and also played the organ for Salem Lutheran Church. Following their marriage, they moved to Sodus where she took pride in starting a family and tending to the family home. She did all the bookkeeping for Walter’s business and ran supplies to wherever he needed them. Eleanor was active in the PTA while her daughters were in school. She was a life-long member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church, Sodus where she was active in the Ladies Aid for many years.

Eleanor was a wonderful mom, grandma and great-grandma who was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

Eleanor is survived by her daughters, Joyce (John) Froehlich, Elaine (Ken) Gaynor, and Marlene Moscardelli; her grandchildren, Kristi (Mike) Kurncz, Mike (Kristen) Froehlich, Mark (Kelly) Froehlich, Ryan (Linda) Moscardelli, and Jared (fiancé, Amy Schultz) Moscardelli; her great-grandchildren, Justin, Cory, and Emily Kurncz, Marina, Alexander and Xavier Froehlich, Harper Froehlich, and Noah Moscardelli; brothers, Alton (Mildred) Wendzel and Kenneth (Leola) Wendzel; and sister-in-law, Joyce Klug.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Walter; her son-in-law Frank Moscardelli; and two brothers and two sisters.

The family would like to say thank you to the staff at Woodland Terrace for all the wonderful care given Eleanor and Walter during their residency at Woodland Terrace.
