FLORENCE Y. HEMINGER


Florence Yvonne (Flowers) Heminger, 92, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and Child of God, formerly of Hartford, passed peacefully in her sleep on June 11, 2022, at The Willows in St. Joseph.

A Celebration of Life and Thanks will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 16 at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma where the family will receive friends beginning one hour prior to the service. Donations in memory of Florence may be made to Caring Circle Hospice or Hartford Bible Church. Those wishing to leave an online message of remembrance may do so at www.duffieldpastrick.com.

Florence was born to Charles and Maleda (Bohn) Flowers on Jan. 7, 1930 in Benton Harbor. She was one of 11 siblings and grew up in Benton Heights. She married Martin J. Heminger on May 19, 1946 and they were married for 60 years before his passing in 2006. She worked on the Winkel Family Farm for many years and also milked the cows that she and Martin had on their farm.

Holidays were a special time at the Heminger house and her meals for all the family, were always the best! Florence was a member of Hartford Bible (Federated) Church.

Florence is survived by her son Martin (Doug) Heminger and wife Deanna, Coloma, her daughter Tamara Carlisle and husband Dwayne, Wasilla, Alaska, and son Mark Heminger and wife Robin, Hartford. She also has seven grandchildren and spouses, several great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, with another expected in a couple weeks. She is also survived by her brother, Charles Flowers and her sisters, Judy Gustafson and Carol Murphy.

She was preceded in death by her husband Martin in 2006, a granddaughter, Mollie Heminger, in 1976, her parents, and four sisters and three brothers.

The family would like to sincerely thank Caring Circle of South Haven and St. Joseph for their compassionate care of their mother and also the staff at The Willows in St. Joseph.
