FRANK SHEMBARGER

Frank A. Shembarger died at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville on Oct. 2, 2021, with his family by his side. He was 84 years old.
Frank is survived by his wife Ann, children Patti Hambley, Kris (Cecil) Thomas and Diana (Brent) Auer, and grandchildren Ellen (Joe) Francis, Sarah Hambley and Kevin Auer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Shembarger and Isabelle Selters, sister Norma Soto, brother Milton Shembarger, and many loving pups.
Frank was born on June 17, 1937, in Benton Harbor. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1955 and went on to attend Western Michigan University where he graduated in 1959 with a degree in accounting.
Frank lived in Southwest Michigan his entire life. He started his career at Du-Wel in South Haven and retired from Premier Tool & Die in Berrien Springs. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golf, as well as spending time at his cabin in Lake Ann. During his retirement, he loved to glean unharvested apples and other produce from the farms of his friends with the goal of sharing the bounty with others. His weekly visits in the fall to the Readiness Center to drop off apples for the children were the deliveries he enjoyed the most. He was an avid University of Michigan fan. He will be greatly missed.
In accordance with Frank’s wishes, no services will be held. The family recommends those wishing to honor Frank consider a memorial donation to Hanson Hospice Center (4382 Cleveland Ave, Stevensville, MI 49127), which cared for Frank and his family with incredible kindness and respect, or Readiness Center, Inc. (347 Catalpa Ave, Benton Harbor, MI 49022), which was an organization near and dear to Frank’s heart.
