Helping senior citizens navigate the new Google

For many senior citizens, keeping up with rapidly changing technology can feel overwhelming, especially when familiar websites and search tools suddenly look different. Google, the world’s most widely used search engine, has introduced new features powered by artificial intelligence, voice search, and personalized results that can sometimes confuse older users. However, with a few simple tips and a little patience, seniors can learn to confidently navigate the new Google experience.
One of the biggest changes users notice is the appearance of AI-generated summaries at the top of search results. These quick answers are designed to save time, but seniors should still scroll further down the page to compare information from trusted websites, local news outlets, healthcare providers, or government agencies. Learning to identify reliable sources remains important.
Voice search has also become increasingly popular. Seniors who may struggle with typing or small keyboards can now tap the microphone icon and simply speak their question aloud. Asking questions naturally, such as “What will the weather be tomorrow?” or “Where is the nearest pharmacy?” often produces accurate and helpful results.
