The repowering of Palisades Power Plant is one step closer to reality after Holtec International announced Friday that they have submitted a filing with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to formally begin the process of seeking federal reauthorization of power operations at the power plant after it was taken offline in 2022. The initial filing for federal reauthorization of power was submitted on Sept. 28, 2023 and docketed by the NRC on Friday, Oct. 6.
