Jim was born June 5, 1942 in Benton Harbor.

He grew up in Millburg where he attended Millburg Elementary and graduated from Coloma High School. After high school he attended Lake Michigan College. Around 1965 Jim started Jarvis Concrete products and was a staple in Watervliet ever since.

He enjoyed giving back to the communities he held dear to his heart through serving on the Millburg Cemetery Board, as a Watervliet Township Trustee and on the Watervliet Township Board of Review. Outside of running his business and serving his community Jim was a member of the NRA and enjoyed attending gun shows, collecting guns, and going to shooting exhibitions.

Jim leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory including: two sons, Eugene Jarvis and James (Tammy) Jarvis Jr.; six grandchildren, Caroline Jarvis, Alyssa Jarvis, Erik Jarvis, Alexandra Jarvis, Mackenzie Jarvis, and Nathaniel Jarvis; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Darrell (Gail) Jarvis; a sister, Barbara (Lawrence) Whitaker; and several nieces and nephews.

Jim died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021, at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Marion (Hillaker) Jarvis; a daughter-in-law, Lori Jarvis; two brothers-in-law, Floyd Sanders and Burt Tetzlaff; and an ex-wife, Patricia Kickpatrick.
