James “Jim” E. Rogers, 77, of Coloma, passed away Tuesday evening, Sept. 17, 2024, at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024 at Crystal Springs Church of God in Benton Harbor. Private family burial took place at Coloma Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations are made to the American Heart Association. Jim was born Oct. 24, 1946 in Portageville, Missouri; one of five sons born to Doyle and Georgie Rogers. Four years later the family moved to Michigan. Jim graduated from Benton Harbor High School and earned his Associate’s Degree from Lake Michigan College. He had worked at Bendix Corporation for 37 years prior to his retirement in 2003. He met his wife Iris through a cousin and the couple eventually married on Oct. 7, 1967. Jim was very involved with Crystal Springs Church of God over the years, serving as treasurer and helping the church in any way he could. He also enjoyed working in his yard and watching the Detroit Lions. His favorite pastime though was spending time with his grandkids and family.
Jim is survived by his wife Iris; son Brian (Natalia) Rogers of Watervliet; daughter Beth (Doug) Kraemer of Coloma; brothers Doyle (Geri) Rogers of Union Pier, Frank (Mary) Rogers of Georgia, Curtis (Book) Rogers and Kent (Cindy) Rogers, both of Florida; and grandchildren Brooklyne and Aleks Rogers and McKinleigh and Maverick Kraemer.
