JEAN STAINBROOK


Jean Y. Stainbrook, 97, of Coloma, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 12, 2023 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville.

Private family services and burial in Coloma Cemetery have taken place. Those wishing to leave a message for the family may do so at www.duffieldpastrick.com. Memorials in Jean’s honor may be made to the North Berrien Senior Center in Coloma or the Victory Life Church in St. Joseph. Jean was born in Coloma on June 17, 1925 to Lester and Yvonne Harris. Jean was a graduate of Coloma High School. She and Arnold Stainbrook were married on Dec. 17, 1944 and the couple celebrated 64 years of marriage prior to Arnold’s passing in 2009.

Jean was a homemaker who loved her two children and grandchildren and she won the Tri-City Record “Best Mom” title in 2020. She was a life member of both the Coloma American Legion Auxiliary Unit 362 and the Order of the Eastern Star #307. Jean enjoyed walking, synchronized swimming and reading. She also enjoyed her and Arnold’s yearly visits to Florida prior to his passing.

Jean is survived by her son, Gary (Jane) Stainbrook; daughter Sherry Turner and her fiancé Stuart Sutton; sister Bonnie Cooper; four grandchildren, Troy (Lori) Stainbrook, Tad Stainbrook, Jennifer Turner, and Andrew (Lauren) Turner; and three great-grandchildren, Avery and Jase Turner and Haley Schell.

She was preceded in death by a sister Shirley Lynch and brother Richard Harris.
