JEFFREY “SCOTT” DOWNEY

Jeffrey “Scott” Downey, 52, of Watervliet, passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at home surrounded by his family. Scott lost a hard-fought battle to cancer.

Scott was known for his big heart and sense of humor. He would do anything for you if asked. He always passed his knowledge on to others. Scott spent the majority of his life doing what he loved, building, by working in the construction industry.

Scott enjoyed spending his days golfing and watching NASCAR or racing at Hartford Speedway. When he was not spending time with his family and friends, you would find him with his son, Gavin, who was his pride and joy.

Scott loved all his family and friends dearly. He cherished each and every one of them.

Scott is survived by his loving wife, Ashley; son, Gavin; father and mother, Larry and Dovie Downey; sister, Candida (Ted) Sinclair; and nephew, Jacob Sinclair. Scott is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved him.

Scott is preceded in death by his grandparents, Woodrow and Dovie Downey; Delbert and Wanda Lilies.

The family will be holding a Celebration of Life to honor Scott at The River Church located at 8712 Red Arrow Hwy., Watervliet on Friday, June 11 at 3 p.m. A luncheon will follow at Coloma Lanes Bowling Center, located at 6025 Mountain Road.
