JoAnn was born on June 10, 1933 in Anna, IL to Morgan and Ilo Roach. She married her husband, Sonny Tabor, and he preceded her in death in 1999.

Before moving to Kentucky she was a longtime hostess in the Twin Cities at the Berrien Hills Country Club. JoAnn was a member of the Midway Baptist Church and taught Sunday School and was involved with AWANA for over 40 years.

JoAnn moved to Louisville about 20 years ago to be with her daughter. In Louisville she was a care provider for babies at the Promise Day Care Center. While in Louisville she attended the Woodland Baptist Church and later the Eastpoint Community Church. A few of her favorite things was watching for cardinals in the backyard, they reminded her of others in heaven watching over her. She was a devout Christian who read her Bible cover to cover every year and loved to talk about what she learned. She had many Bibles and loved teaching the Bible to children everywhere.

JoAnn liked to do cross stitching, arts and crafts, and sing. She loved making her own cards for everyone including birthday cards and Christmas cards for all the residents at two of the nursing homes in Louisville. She loved watching Lake Michigan and the St Joseph Lighthouse from the bluff. JoAnn especially loved being with her family including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her family and friends.

Her family includes her children, Debbie (Rick) Cain of Louisville, and Scott (Terrie) Ruel of Coloma; her sister, Sandy (Chuck) Henderson of South Bend; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

JoAnn was also preceded in death by two sons, Lewis Ruel and Doug Ruel; three brothers, Donald Elston, Kenneth Elston, and Paul Elston; and two sisters, Geraldine Snow and Sharon Sargeant.
