John Frost, a cherished husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully on July 31, 2024, at the age of 85, in South Bend, IN. Born on July 25, 1939, in Terre Haute, IN, to the late Jack and Elizabeth (Tomaszewski) Frost, John’s life was marked by dedication, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to his family.
John graduated from Washington High School. On Nov. 29, 1969, John married the love of his life, Bernadine (Siwek) Frost, in Chicago, IL. Together, they built a life filled with love, raising their three children, John A. (Melissa) Frost of Coloma, MI, Jacquline M. Sinnett of Coloma, MI, and Joseph M. Frost of Glendale, IL.
John worked as a heavy equipment operator and in the trucking industry for 51 years before retiring at the age of 75.
He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus in Watervliet, a member of the Masonic Lodge #162 and the Shriners Club of South Bend. John’s alter egos, Frosty the clown and Pumper the fire clown, were beloved characters he portrayed for over 20 years, bringing smiles to children and adults alike with his balloon art.
John was an avid fisherman, he found solace and joy in the quiet moments by the pond at his home in Coloma where he shared his love of fishing with his children and grandchildren. His culinary skills were second to none, and he took great pleasure in cooking for his family. Known for his hardworking nature, John never shied away from a challenge and was always the first to lend a helping hand.
John’s legacy is carried on by his family, including his five grandchildren, R.J., Wyatt, Devin, Elisabeth, and Christine, sister-in-law Carol Yanos, and nephew Dennis Yanos who will remember him for his wisdom, humor, and the stories he shared. His children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place and no services will be held. Palmer Funeral Home – Welshiemer North Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
