June Kay (Kniebes) Sims (83) passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 7, 2026. June was born on June 6, 1942, to Harry and Lydia Kniebes of Watervliet, Michigan. She lived most of her life on the family farm.
June attended elementary school at Cribbs School in Bainbridge Township, then Eau Claire High School where she graduated. She worked for many years at Whirlpool, then later at Shawnee Specialties in Eau Claire, before retiring.
In her free time she enjoyed her pets, antique shopping, jigsaw picture puzzles, and spending time outside with her flowers and garden. She almost always had music playing, a love that she passed down to and shared with her son.
She was a woman with an incredible sense of humor, strong sense of self determination and self reliance, and a full and loving heart for all of her family and friends.
June is survived by her son Shawn, and her brother Loren (Sandra) Kniebes. She had a strong relationship with her five nephews and three nieces, and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Lydia, and her sister Theda (Kniebes) Koshar.
As per her wishes, funeral services will consist of a visitation for all friends and family on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet. Her cremated remains will be laid to rest at a future date with a private ceremony. You are invited to leave a message of comfort for her family at hutchinsfuneral.com.
