Karen J. Demis, 63, of Coloma, passed away on Dec. 14, 2022 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial mass was held on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2022. Memorial donations in Karen’s memory may be made to Berrien County Cancer Service. Those wishing to leave a message or share a memory with the family online may do so at

Karen was born Jan. 17, 1959 in Benton Harbor to Edward and Ann (Handzel) Kafka. She graduated from Coloma High School and was the owner of Easy Street Inn for 26 years. Karen was creative and loved doing crafts, cooking and spending time with her family.

Karen is survived by her husband John, whom she married June 13, 1981; daughter Amanda (Arthur) Moore of Watervliet, sister Roseann (Scott) Clements of Coloma, granddaughter Katelynn Kostrzewa, and several other family members and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Nancy Kafka.
