Karla Smothers reclaims overall Armchair QB lead with Week 3 victory
The third week of action in the Tri-City Record’s Armchair Quarterback Contest has been contested. As always, we continued the tradition of challenging our ‘superfans’ in some daunting gridiron matchups, as our knowledgeable fanatics looked to pick the winners of three high school, four collegiate, and three professional football games that appeared on our week three calendar. If you have a diehard interest in sports, and especially football, you are on cloud nine!
Looking back at last week’s final records, it appears our diehards continue to put their skills to good use. After a tumultuous opening week, all six of our accomplished scholars have passed their weekly examinations for a second straight week, making every game selection important.
Recapping week three games, our local favorite professional teams (Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions) joined our local high school and collegiate teams on the field, filling our weekend schedules further (in a good way). As fans, we witnessed a mix of close games and blowouts, along with defensive masterclasses and scores so high you nearly needed a third digit to figure out the total. One thing is for certain – be ready for a roller coaster ride on the edge of your seat.
