KATHLEEN PHILLIPI


Kathy’s life began Aug. 7, 1950, in Watervliet. She spent her childhood growing up in Watervliet where she graduated high school. After high school Kathy continued her education at Lake Michigan College earning an associate degree. She went to work for several years as a paralegal for Butzbaugh & Ehrenberg. She also worked for Whirlpool and Lake Michigan College before retirement. In her younger years Kathy loved bowling, she also enjoyed bird watching and flower gardening. Kathy loved her pets and unwinding in the evening catching up on her TV shows.

Her greatest joy was her family and spending time with them. Her loving family includes: her husband Mike Phillipi; two daughters, Lynne Phillipi and Lisa Phillipi (Mike Zecklin); two grandsons, Brendan Baldwin (Kelsey Allen) and Brody Crowder; seven siblings, Louis (Tonda) Koshar, Tom (Ginny) Koshar, Laura (Tom) LaVanway, Marianne (Jeff) Kennedy, Pete (Sherrie) Koshar, Tina (Roger) Schaus, and Chris (Robin) Koshar; and many nieces and nephews.

Kathy died Friday, Aug. 4, 2023, at Corewell Health in St. Joseph.

She is preceded in death by her son Mike Phillipi, her parents Louis and Dolores (Marvin) Koshar and a brother, Andy Koshar.

Friends may visit with Kathy’s family Thursday, Aug. 10, 2023, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Aug. 11, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Watervliet. Burial will follow in North Shore Memory Gardens.
