Born July 11, 1963, in Rockford, Illinois, Kathy was the daughter of Leroy and Fay Hutsell. Kathy faithfully served as a paraprofessional with Benton Harbor Area Schools for 32 years. She viewed her work with children as more than a career—it was a calling. Through her gentle spirit, caring heart, and unwavering dedication, she made a meaningful difference in the lives of countless students before retiring in 2023.

On June 12, 1982, Kathy married the love of her life, Richard Kiser, and together they built a life centered on faith, family, and unconditional love.

Kathy was a charter member of Twelve Corners General Baptist Church, where she had attended since the age of 12. For the past 18 years, she faithfully served alongside her husband as a pastor’s wife, supporting the ministry and loving her church family with a servant’s heart. Her faith was the foundation of her life, reflected daily through her kindness, compassion, and grace.

She had a gentle spirit and a welcoming smile that made everyone feel at home. Above all else, Kathy treasured her family and found her greatest joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren, celebrating life’s special moments, and creating memories that will be cherished forever.

She is lovingly survived by her husband, Richard Kiser Sr.; her children, Kirsten (Dwain) Johnson of Benton Harbor, Richard (Melissa) Kiser Jr. of Watervliet, and Angel Faith Kiser of Benton Harbor; her brothers, Roylee Hutsell of Lawrence and Jimmy Hutsell of Hartford; her sisters, Barb (Doug) Kelly of Benton Harbor and Carin (Kenny) Smith of Coloma; her step-sister Pam Muller of Hartford; her step-brothers Michael (Pamela) Prince of Hartford and Howard (Jacque) Prince of Colorado; her mother Fay Prince of Hartford; her mother-in-law Julia Kiser of Benton Harbor; and her eight beloved grandchildren: Tristan, Jeremiah, Hayden, Chase, Noah, Isaac, Richard, and Maggie; and lifelong family friend Amber Statler.

Kathy was preceded in death by her infant brother, Baby Leroy; her father, Leroy Hutsell; her father-in-law, Arvie Kiser; her sister, Judy Bradshaw; her stepfather, William Prince; and other loved ones who welcomed her into eternal peace.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing Kathy’s legacy of love, faith, and devotion will continue to live on through her family, her church, and all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
