The wait is almost over for Coloma volleyball. After weeks of summer workouts, practices, conditioning and preparation, the Lady Comets will finally get the opportunity to step onto the court against another team this weekend. Both the junior varsity and varsity squads will begin their seasons at home, with Coloma hosting a pair of invitationals to kick off the 2026 campaign.
The JV Lady Comets will be the first to take the floor when they open their season Friday at the Coloma Invitational. Varsity will follow on Saturday with an invitational of its own, giving volleyball fans two straight days to get an early look at this year's Coloma teams.
For the players, the opening weekend represents the first real test after spending the preseason working against familiar faces. Practices can help a team improve its serving, passing, communication and rotations, but there is only so much that can be learned from lining up against teammates every day.
