Lest we forget
One of my history textbooks in middle school introduced me to the phrase, “Lest We Forget.” It was a war propaganda poster from the Great War, and it depicted the tragedy of the Lusitania. If you don’t know what that is (as I didn’t when I first saw it), the RMS Lusitania was a transatlantic passenger cruiser that was sunk by a German U-Boat, leading to the deaths of nearly 1,200 passengers. These were not soldiers or military personnel, but civilians caught in the crossfire.
