Lois A. Arent, 86, of Coloma, passed away on Monday, Sept. 6, 2021 at West Woods of Niles.
Lois was born on June 1, 1935 in Coloma, to the late Oscar and Gertrude (Smith) Kilmark. She was a 1953 graduate of Coloma High School. On May 12, 1956 she married Wesley Arent; he preceded her in death on Oct. 27, 2015.
Lois had many joys in her life. She was very family focused, and she loved to attend her grandchildren’s sporting events, musical performances and activities. She was known and loved by her grandchildren and all of her grandchildren’s friends who would always make a point to say hi to her at ballgames. Lois was always smiling. She brought joy to all around her. She was an avid Cubs fan and was thrilled to see them win the World Series in 2016. She watched the Cubs daily on TV. Lois was active in the church, a devout Christian and was in the church choir for many years. She volunteered to assist in the kindergarten class that her daughter, Angie taught and the kids loved her. Lois loved traveling and took many cruises with Wes. In her younger years she won multiple baton twirling competitions, including a national title.
Lois is survived by her children, Angela (Bud) Arent-Seabury of Coloma and Thomas (Kelly) Arent of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Logan, Makenzie, Sophia, Wayne and Wesley; and a brother, Ronald Wayne (Marcia) Kilmark of Waycross, GA.
A Celebration of Life Service was held on Sept. 10, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church in St. Joseph with Pastor Dan Colthorp officiating. Burial followed at Coloma Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in St. Joseph or to the Coloma United Methodist Church.
