LOWELL J. BARRICKLOW

Lowell J. Barricklow, age 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 17, 2025. He was born at his parent’s home in Mount Zion, Arkansas, on October 13, 1936, to the late Lowell and Myrtle (Rodgers) Barricklow.

A 1954 graduate of Coloma High School, Lowell went on to attend Lake Michigan College, where he was certified in Mechanical Drafting. He became further certified in Environmental Systems at Michigan State University. He spent much of his professional career in sales with Applegate Heating, Cooling and Insulation.

Lowell was a devoted member of Faith Lutheran Church in Okemos and served as a Sunday School teacher for nearly 40 years. From a young age, he was an avid Detroit Tigers fan—so passionate that he logged meticulous stats for every game. His love of sports also led him to become a high school basketball referee and a proud MSU season ticket holder for 39 years, cheering on the Spartans in both basketball and football. He never missed a chance to tailgate with family and friends.

Lowell took great pride in remodeling his longtime family home and enjoyed tinkering in his workshop. His infectious sense of humor made him the life of every party, especially during “Happy Hours” or bonfires he and Gail regularly hosted. Known for his goofball antics and open heart, Lowell welcomed everyone and seldom felt he met a stranger. Together he and Gail often served at homeless shelters and food pantries—making friends wherever they went. With his lifelong love for dogs, he shared his home with many beloved four-legged companions.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Gail Barricklow; his children, Robin (Chris) Barricklow, Kimberly (Pat) Dolph, Todd (Sandy) Barricklow, and Krista Finazzo (E. J. Rosiak); 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two “bonus” grandchildren. He is also blessed with many nieces, nephews, extended family members and countless friends.

Lowell was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Melba, Don, Jim, Dorothy, and infant triplets.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Faith Lutheran Church, 4515 Dobie Rd., Okemos, MI 48864 from 10 to 11:30 a.m., immediately followed by a memorial service with Rev. Megan Floyd officiating.

A graveside service will be held at Coloma Cemetery on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at 11 a.m. A luncheon will immediately follow at Salem Lutheran Church, 275 Marvin St., Coloma.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, the Capital Area Humane Society, Forster Woods Adult Day Center in East Lansing, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
