MANLEY ROBERT WALKER

Manley Robert Walker, 84 of Hartford, was born on July 3, 1937 in Hartford, the son of Harold and Beatrice (Manley) Walker.

Manley passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at his home.

Bob, as he was known by most everyone, started working at the age of fourteen by washing cars at the Calvin Funeral Home in Hartford. He continued working there as an attendant until 2020 when health issues caused him to retire. During his eighty four years he worked at Clark Equipment, Hartford Public Schools and the Hartford Speedway on race nights for many years, where he became friends with everyone he met.

Bob was a volunteer firefighter for many years and then served on the Hartford Fire Board. In his younger years he loved to fish and hunt. He loved his family so very much and enjoyed all the time spent with his grandchildren. He will be truly missed.

Bob leaves behind to cherish his memory a daughter, Tami Obermesik of Benton Harbor; a son, Bobby Walker of Hartford; five grandchildren, Nicholas Obermesik, Ally Obermesik, Brooke Mellow, Alexa Walker and Jake Mellow; three great-grandchildren, Cooper Mellow, Parker Tills and Bennett Obermesik; a brother, Richard (June) Walker of South Bend and a sister, Daun Pitcher of Hartford along with numerous other family members and friends.

Preceding Bob in passing were his parents; two brothers, Harold and Jim Walker; and his son-in-law, John Obermesik.

A celebration of life service to honor Bob’s memory was held on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at the Hartford United Methodist Church. Bob was laid to rest at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hartford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the Hartford Fire Department or the American Cancer Society.

The family has entrusted the Calvin Funeral Home in Hartford, with arrangements. Those wishing to leave memorial condolences may do so at http://www.calvin-leonardfh.com.
