MARJORIE L. WOLFE

Marjorie Lucille Wolfe of Hartford transitioned to her heavenly home on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at age 75.

Marjorie was born in Hartford in 1946 to William Franklin Wolverton and Mattie (Mitchell) Wolverton.

She attended Hartford Public School and later while raising her children worked for that school as a bus driver for 26 years. She took pride as a public school bus driver in being firm but fair, a consistent disciplinarian, using the “Golden Rule” as her guide.

Marjorie has always been an avid reader (favorite author: Karen Kingsbury). Early in life, she expressed herself artistically by drawing and painting. Later she whipped out her crocheting needles and made and designed colorful baby blankets as babies came along.

She loved gospel music and sang with church choirs. She challenged herself to play the mandolin late in life. She enjoyed playing cards (especially hand and foot) or other board games with family or friends, or by herself on the computer.

She loved her family (and all children) very much and would simply take time to play UNO or other games with any child that was interested. Marjorie loved camping with grandchildren and shared many experiences with them. Some of her most prized memories were spent with family. Additionally, she enjoyed visiting and traveling to national parks and monuments with Jim.

She was a patriotic American and stood for Christian family values. She was a Sunday school worker/ helper for many years at Hartford Bible Church (formally the Hartford Federated Church). She truly loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and wanted to help others understand His love for them.

Marjorie was a member and supporter of the Gideons International Auxiliary. For over twenty years she has helped distribute hundreds of Bibles and share God’s word passionately with countless people.

She is survived by her husband, Jimmy M. Wolfe who she married on Nov. 15, 1986; sisters, Daisy Bernice Taylor (Verl) and Linda Lawson (Rodney); children, Rick Smith (Tammy), Christopher Smith, David Smith, stepchildren Kelli Wolfe, Brandon Wolfe (Holly), and Jason Wolfe; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and many loved nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Franklin Wolverton and Mattie Wolverton; brother William (Bill) Wolverton; sisters, Lottie Baker, Letha Cooner, Mary Adams, and Daisy Barrett.

A celebration of life service will be held Sunday, June 12 at Hartford Bible Church, 65418 Red Arrow Hwy. Visitation will be at 2 p.m., followed by the service at 3 p.m. and then a luncheon.

Her ashes will be laid to rest in the Keeler Cemetery at a later time in a private family gathering.

Memorials may be made to The Gideons International, P.O. Box 467, Hartford, MI 49057 or Armed Forces Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 64, Decatur, MI 49045.

The family has entrusted the Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, with arrangements. Those wishing to leave condolences may do so at http://www.calvin-leonardfh.com.
